REVIEW: My first Makeup Geek purchase and I'm geekin' out!!

Hello again!

I've recently been following Samantha's IG from Batalash Beauty and through her list of makeup products have found the company, Makeup Geek (MUG). I began to do a little research because based on her reviews, the quality was that of MAC but half the price. I love MAC products, but c'mon, I can't be poppin' out $14 every time I want to try a new eye shadow.

At the moment, there are several colors of shadow out in their online store so I decided to try out four of their pan shadows, one loose pigment, and it's possible that I bought more of the NYX eye pencil in Milk. Shh, don't tell my husband.

From top right, counterclockwise: MUG Eye Shadow in Mercury, MUG Shimma Shimma, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, MUG Burlesque, MUG Moondust, MUG Loose Pigment in Sweet Dreams (in the middle of my hand by itself)

PIGMENTATION: 10/10

Samantha was totally right about MUG when she said these eye shadows were just like MAC's shadows. All five shadows that I ordered are b-e-a-utiful; even the light color (Shimma Shimma) has so much sparkle and shine. It's almost identical to the Sweet Dreams loose pigment but it has a silver undertone and sweet dreams has a peach undertone. The Burlesque color is a satin matte so it will be beautiful mixed with the others. The darker grey shadow, Moondust, is that perfect grey/taupe (graupe?) color that is going to go with EVERYTHING. I bet that one will run out first.

LONGEVITY: 9/10

I'm not even kidding when I say this but these shadows have lasted me all day long. I applied them around 6:30 yesterday morning before work and as I complete this post to be published for tomorrow (your today), they are still going strong. Guess what time it is? 9:04 pm. We've got winners, folks!!

APPLICATION: 9/10

I don't need much of any of these to get full color coverage. Because of that, I'll probably have these pans for years before they're finally emptied. They apply as smooth as butter and blend pretty effortlessly with other colors. I-like-it-uh-lot.

PACKAGING: 8/10

You can order any of their eye shadows in a pot but it costs a couple of dollars more. I already had a four shadow compact from MAC and these pans fit perfectly inside.

The loose pigment isn't all that special but I like that it's about an inch or so around. I use my fingers with loose shadows and need room to get product on there.

PRICING: 8/10

MUG Eye Shadow Pan | $5.99
MUG Eye Pigment | $6.99
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil | $4.99

These prices are VERY reasonable considering the quality of their products. I was still hoping to find $1.99 prices like with Coastal Scents since I don't know MUG's company all that well yet, but I was more than happy to pay six bucks to try them out.

OVERALL: 8.8/10

I don't think there was one bad thing to say about what I purchased from MUG. I've been experimenting with them already and am excited to see what looks I can come up with in the future.

Have you known about MUG forever now? I think I might have been under a huge rock because now that I've found them, I see them everywhere! What are you favorite MUG eye shadows? Tell me below and I might just have to make another purchase in the near future.

I'm linking up with Tuesday Pretties and Trendspin Tuesday.

    1. Me too! There's been so much hype about the company lately and I knew I needed to try out a few of their products. I need to go back and order some matte shades. Thanks for stopping by!
