REVIEW | Mary Kay Emmy looks

The Emmy awards have come and gone but aside from the jaw-dropping fashion on the red carpet, the celebrities' makeup is always a stunning thing to see. So when Mary Kay contacted me to review some of their products, I am always up to it!

One of the looks they were inspired by was that of Sarah Hyland from Modern Family. Her flawless look with the cropped top and full, floor length skirt with a high bun and bold makeup was a look to be talked about all season.

As you can see from the top picture (Brilliantly Bold), Mary Kay sent products to recreate that look. The brows and lips were what made the look so bold and although they didn't include brow product, I had some of my own. To create something like this on my own, I was able to fill in my brows a little thicker than normal, HACed my face like normal, added this beautiful berry blush to my cheeks, applied multiple coats of mascara, and then swiped this rich berry lipstick to my lips. Thick brows make me a little weak in the knees lately.

The other look they were inspired by was that of January Jones from Mad Men. Every look that I've seen her in, she's always rocking a red lip and it all ties so well together with her fair skin and blonde hair.

In the second picture (Radiantly Red), Mary Kay suggested swiping the icy silver color to the lids, two coats of mascara to the lashes, and this rich brick-red semi-matte lipstick in Ruby Night to the lips. I have a ton of red lip products in my collection, but not none with this brick-colored tone. I also love that the silver cream shadow acts as a primer/base so when the silver shadow is applied, it has huge color payoff!

What makes this more exciting is that we don't have to pay expensive name-brand makeup prices for celebrity-type looks. We can achieve it all through companies like Mary Kay. I know I've been harping on that name lately, and I'm not being paid to do so, but they truly have began thinking about the present-day young woman and her makeup needs.

Are there makeup brands you used to hate (or at least dislike) that have changed your tune in the last year or so? Tell me below because maybe I'm looking over one myself!
